Ashley Bell by Dean Koontz
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I received an ARC Kindle edition of Ashley Bell by Dean Koontz via NetGalley in September. This was approved in hopes of an honest review.
Some of the best books I have read in my life, are the most difficult to review.
Each time I sat down to write this review, my mouth is agape, and I am like a deer in the headlights.
"Ashley Bell" is now a part of my soul. There were over twenty times that I highlighted sentences or phrases as quotes that I count as notable. These words, written as fiction, reach the highest truths.
I am not a Book Report reviewer, but a Reader Reaction reviewer. I cannot tell you what "Ashley Bell" is about, but it is a time-travelling novel that slips in and out of several dimensions of the fictional story, the past and our world today.
As surreal as Bibi Blair's journey is, her character and those of her friends and family are realistic if not a little familiar. The protagonist(s)...you will have to decide.
Any reader who is a writer will be served well by reading this book.
There are many literary references, and again portions of verse and thought that made me cry out, "That is so damn true!" And then I sit and think about where Dean Koontz has taken me, what he has caused me to think about.
Will we find Ashley Bell in time? ...you will have to read this to find out.
Since "Ashley Bell" is now available I will finish with one quote from chapter 126 -
