My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The Waiting by Joe Hart is a well written book that keeps the readers attention through the majority of the story.
There are several streams of back stories going on that could be expanded. I can see a couple of books written from "The Waiting."
Evan Tormer, a single father has had his share of trauma and loss. He made bad choices for good reason, but he and his son suffer the consequences.
A concerned friend knows Evan needs a break. He gives Evan, and son Shaun use of his family's Fin Island vacation home.
The opening pages of the book set the stage for darkness and a haunted story. Characters are well developed.
There are a few places where the supernatural passed into the incredulous.
I bought this book on accident. I was thinking of Joe Hill, and mixed Heart Shaped Boxes, and snatched this good deal on Amazon.com.
It is not Joe Hill, but I was not disappointed. Hill and Hart have both visited the weird spaces of imagination.
