Dead in a Dumpster by B.L. Blair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received Dead in a Dumpster: Leah Norwood Mystery, #1 by B.L. Blair, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review,
The first hooks were the cover and title.
I had emotional responses to the characters in this novel. Many of the women are well educated and successful. Some of the guys are nice, other are jerks. All of the characters were three-dimensional.
I envied Leah's sassy, take-no-prisoners attitude. For once a leading lady does not need to be a beauty queen to be admired, successful or attractive.
The settings for the murder mystery, and characters are all well developed.
The first two chapters took a bit of work to get through [No more "had beens" for you B.L!], but I am glad I persevered.
Leah Norwood is an admirable woman with good friends, and a strong protagonist.
A strength of community runs through this story that is endearing, but not mushy.
The "who-done-it" was almost a complete surprise. There were many people who had motive and opportunity to kill Isabel Meeks. The murdered woman made enemies in low and high places. The author did allow some sympathy for Isabel, and helped solve her murder.
